27 Marijuana Plants Found in Vehicle

Three men are facing drug possession charges following a traffic stop on Discovery Line in Petrolia just before 3:30pm Friday afternoon.

Lambton OPP say they were conducting a routine traffic stop and found 27 freshly harvested marijuana plants inside the vehicle.

Before the stop, the motorcycle officer allegedly detected a strong odour of suspected marijuana. During the arrest, police say one of the men attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended.

38-year-old Steven Almas of London is charged with possession of a schedule two substance over 30 mgs, resisting a peace officer and failing to wear a seatbelt.

36-year-old Trevor Wright of London is charged with possession of a schedule two substance over 30 mgs, and driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor.

41-year-old Augustus Morrissey of Adelaide-Metcalfe Twp. is charged with possession of a schedule two substance over 30 mgs.

They'll appear in Sarnia court Monday, November 18.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
