Charity Event Raises Thousands For Literacy

The annual Warden's Charity Picnic has raised over $20,000 in support of the Organization for Literacy in Lambton.

Those donating included Ontario Power Generation, Bluewater Power, Curran Contractors, and Judy McKibbon.

The Judith & Norman Alix Foundation alone raised $10,000.

General Manager Noelle Fisher says they are extremely excited and humbled to be the recipient.

A portion of the proceeds will be supporting a free tutoring program for children in Petrolia, the remainder will be supporting both children and adult programming.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
