Violent Encounter With Weapons Wielding Man

Sarnia police had what they call a violent encounter with a man Monday afternoon.

Constable John Sottosanti says police were called to the 400 block of Davis St. for a report of a suspicious person in a motor vehicle around 3pm.

He says officers spotted weapons inside the vehicle.

Sottosanti says officers asked the man to exit the vehicle, at which time he grabbed the hammer.

Officers were able to disarm the man who then allegedly charged at police yelling that he wanted to be shot.

Constable Sottosanti says during a search of the suspect, officers discovered 26 g of crystal methamphetamine and several more knives.

The man is facing a long list of charges including assaulting police with a weapon, resisting arrest, possession for the purpose of trafficking and breaching bail conditions.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
