Sarnia-Lambton Real Estate Sales Steady

Sarnia-Lambton real estate sales were good last month but still down compared to a very strong September 2014.

Real Estate Board President Jane Baker says 171 properties sold with a dollar volume of $37.5-million, off nine per cent.

She says while the numbers are down for the month, they're still running well ahead year-to-date.

"We were still slightly down from sales from this month last year, but we're still up overall," says Baker. "So I think it's really been a very steady, very even market and we are seeing the typical changes in the typical months, but still busier than we were in previous years."

Baker says dollar volume was off in September, in part, because there were no sales over $800,000.

At this time last year, ten properties sold above that mark, including three worth $1-million each.

The average sale price through nine months was $219,000 compared to about $221,000 last year.

There are currently 792 active listings in the MLS system.
