UDPATE: Arrest Made In Variety Store Robbery

Police have made an arrest following a robbery at a variety store and a break and enter at a home in Sarnia.

The Sarnia Police Service says on Thursday around 1pm, a variety store in the 100-block of North Russell St. was robbed by a man claiming to have a knife. The man was able to make off with an unknown amount of cash.

Police say no one was hurt.

Shortly after the robbery, a man broke into a residence in the 400-block of Kathleen Ave. and stole a television.

Around 2pm, police arrested a suspect coming out of a different house in the same area. Police have since linked the man to both the break and enter and the robbery at the variety store.

A 32-year-old Sarnia man is now facing a charge of robbery and break and enter. He is currently in police custody awaiting a bail hearing on Friday.

The television taken during the break and enter has been recovered.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to contact police at 519-344-8861 ext. 6132 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
