Poppy Campaign Underway

Poppies are being distributed in advance of Remembrance Day across the country.

Sarnia Legion Branch 62 Poppy Campaign Chair Ron Chafe, says locally there are 70,000 available for a donation.

Poppy boxes are set up at stores across the community including Tim Hortons, the Beer Store and LCBO.

He says last year's campaign raised just over $65,000, largely due to the help of volunteers.

Chafe says money raised goes to the local poppy fund that provides assistance to area veterans and their dependents, including medical appliances and transportation.
