Record November Warm Streak Now Three Days

The very unusual early November streak of record warm weather now spans three days.

A new record high was set in Sarnia Thursday, the third in as many days, when the temperature hit 23 C (73 F) at noon at Chris Hadfield Airport.

The previous record for November 5 of 20.6 C, dated back to 1978.

Environment Canada says two days in a row of 20 C weather in November is quite uncommon in southern Ontario, let alone three.

Forecasters say an unseasonably warm air mass combined with abundant sunshine is producing temperatures more typical of late summer or mid September.

Temperature records have been falling across southern Ontario this week.

The streak could end Friday with temperatures expected to fall to 9 C (48 F) in Sarnia in the afternoon.

The record high for November 6 is 21.7 C in 1975.
