Mistrial Declared In Murder Case

Justice Bruce Thomas declared a mistrial Friday in Sarnia Superior Court after one day of testimony in the first degree murder trial of James Province.

The 56-year old is charged in the September 7, 2012 death of his 50-year old estranged wife, Joanne Underhill.

The judge discharged two of the twelve jurors as a result of issues that arose after testimony began Wednesday.

A new jury will be selected starting Monday then a new trial will begin.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
