Mindful Music Program Underway

Sarnia-Lambton's Alzheimer Society is helping dementia patients bring back memories through the Mindful Music program.

Patients listen to customized playlists about three times a week to help reduce anxiety, depression, and improve certain behaviours.

Program Coordinator Vanessa Barnes says there was one case with an Italian man who had difficulty communicating.

The program, launched in May at the Vision Nursing Home, has been successful for many of Barnes patients.

She hopes moving forward, she can expand the program for every local dementia patient.
