Queen's Park Transportation Meeting Set

A Lambton County delegation will travel to Toronto November 19 to meet with Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca at Queen's Park.

Warden Bev MacDougall, County Public Works Manager Jason Cole, Acting CAO Jim Kutyba and Plympton-Wyoming Mayor Lonny Napper will make the trip.

A recent Auditor General's report slammed the Liberal government's cost-cutting shift to privatized winter road maintenance. It said, in some cases, it took up to five hours longer to clear roads between 2009 and 2014, putting motorists at greater risk.

County officials are also hoping to get a status report on the decades-old proposed widening of a dangerous section of Hwy. 40 in Sarnia.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
