Conference-Leading Flyers Best Legionnaires

The Western Conference leading Leamington Flyers got the better of the Sarnia Legionnaires by a 6-2 score in GOJHL action Tuesday night.

Corunna's Ethan Dupont opened the scoring for Sarnia with his second goal of the season late in the first period. The Flyers countered with two quick goals to pull ahead 2-1 at the end of the first.

Liam Hogan scored shorthanded for the Flyers in the second period. Leamington went on to score three more goals in the third before Sarnia defenceman Brad Yowart made the score 6-2. Ryan Vendramin picked up assists on both Legionnaire goals.

Leamington outshot the Legionnaires 37-27.

Leamington is now 15-3-1 on the season and has won six of seven games. Sarnia is 11 points back in the Western Conference standings.

The Legionnaires' next game is Thursday night at home to LaSalle. You can hear the game live on 103.9FM - 1070AM  CHOK beginning at 7pm.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
