Completion Of Petrolia's Big Dig Delayed

A number of delays have set back completion of the first phase of Petrolia's Big Dig.

The reconstruction of Petrolia Line from west of Bridgeview Park to Oil St. is now scheduled to be finished November 22.

Petrolia's Director of Operations Mike Thompson says work was originally to be done by November 15.

"The old watermain was breaking left and right all around the downtown. In turn, that shut down Birnam Construction which extended the project a little bit more," he says.

Thompson says curbs are expected to go in by next Tuesday with pavement hopefully being laid down a couple days after that.

Town council was told October 26th that about $47,000 of the $150,000 set aside for unforeseen problems was left.

The town, Lambton County and upper tier government are sharing the $4.5-million cost of the project that includes new road infrastructure.
