Sting Trade Captain To Petes

The Sarnia Sting have traded their captain to the Peterborough Petes.

The OHL club announced in a news release late Thursday afternoon that overage Centre Daniel Nikandrov has been dealt to Peterborough for draft picks.

The Sting receive Sault Ste. Marie’s third round pick in 2017 and Hamilton’s fifth round pick in 2017.

Nikandrov was originally drafted in the fourth round of the 2011 OHL Priority Selection by the Sting.

In 207 career games with the club, he recorded 37 goals and 75 assists for a career total of 112 points. So far this season, Nikandrov has four goals and six assists in 18 games.

“On behalf of the Sarnia Sting Hockey Club, I’d like to wish Daniel the best of luck as he finishes off his OHL career with the Peterborough Petes," saysSting General Manager Nick Sinclar. "We thank Daniel for everything he’s done for the club over the last four-plus years in Sarnia.”

The Sting return to action Friday night in Flint and host the Guelph Storm at the SSEC on Saturday night.
