YMCA Hands Out Peace Medallions

It's World Peace Week, and the Sarnia-Lambton YMCA is recognizing local individuals who give their time and money to make a positive difference.

The organization has handed out peace medallions to three local peacekeepers.

Aboriginal Activist Thea DeGroot won in the individual category, 16-year-old Christian Goulet is the youth winner, and Brian and June DeWagner took home the organization award for the Jimmy/Janie TwoHander Lacrosse program.

Communications Manager Gerry Gillis says it's a great tradition locally.

The medallions have been handed out since 1987.
