Bluewater Health Expands Visiting Hours

Bluewater Health has adjusted visiting hours to allow for friends and family members to spend more time with patients.

The Canadian Foundation of Healthcare Improvement wants hospitals and long-term care homes to expand access for visitors.

Madeleine Kerr is Co-Chair of the Patient Experience Partner Council at Bluewater Health.

She says they created a new "family presence policy" over the summer to allow for as much visiting time as necessary.

Kerr says there are special cases for patients in ICU, Mental Health and and Labour and Delivery, but for the most part, they allow family to be with patients as much as possible.
