Step Closer To New Farm Management

The Sarnia and District Humane Society received great support from Sarnia council Monday for operation of Children's Animal Farm at Canatara Park.

City staff will draft an operational agreement for council's decision at its December 7 meeting.

During a delegation to council, Executive Director Donna Pyette says they would like to focus more on educational tours and bring back day camps at the farm.

Pyette noted the change in operation would minimally profit the humane society, but would provide an opportunity for them to give back to the community.

The City of Sarnia has operated the facility since 1963 and has recently faced concerns of non-compliance issues with required guidelines.
