25 Years Of Palliative Care At Bluewater Health

Bluewater Health is marking 25 years of palliative care.

Medicine Program Business Director Sue Roger says during the first full year of operation, 115 patients were admitted for care. They've grown and now have four palliative care physicians who care for patients in hospital, community and clinics.

She says Bluewater Health is an integral part of the palliative care transition for patients and they work every day with CCAC, community providers and St. Joseph's Hospice to ensure patients receive the care they need.

Roger says the history of palliative care cannot be shared without noting the legacy of the late Dr. Linda Bowring, who was instrumental in the development of the palliative care unit and the original six-bed residential hospice on London Rd.
