Legionnaires Fall To Stars

The visiting St. Thomas Stars downed the Sarnia Legionnaires 6-2 in Greater Ontario Jr. Hockey League action Thursday night.

The Stars benefited from first period goals by Alex Turko and Ethan Nother. Brock Perry made it a 2-1 game with his fifth goal of the season in the second frame.

St. Thomas scored four goals in the third period to seal the win. Captain Hunter Tyczynski scored the other Legionnaires goal, Perry had an assist on the goal for his second point of the night.

The Legionnaires were held scoreless on two powerplay chances while the Stars capitalized on two of three opportunities.

Aidan Hughes allowed six goals on 28 St. Thomas shots while Dan Black stopped 20 of Sarnia's 22 shots.

The Legionnaires are now 11-10-1-2 on the season, good for sixth place in the Western Conference. The win moves the Stars to within five points of first place Leamington.

The Legionnaires' next game is in Chatham on Sunday night.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
