Petrolia Big Dig Delays

The Town of Petrolia's Director of Operations is hoping construction on Petrolia Line finishes either Monday or Tuesday, a whole week after the second pushed back deadline.

Mike Thompson says the first phase was originally to be done by November 15th, but was pushed back until the 22nd due to a number of unexpected problems.

He says they wanted it complete before the Starbright Christmas shows began.

"The playhouse show started this past Tuesday. So it didn't get completed in time, which was disappointing, but at the same time, we don't want to rush it we want to make sure everything's done properly."

Birnham Construction is now facing a monetary penalty of $1,000 for every work day after the 22nd.

The two-year, $4.5-million project includes new under and above ground infrastructure.
