Decision Expected On Animal Farm Operation

Sarnia council is expected to make a decision Monday on an operational agreement for the children's animal farm at Canatara Park.

Mayor Mike Bradley expects the report will pass, allowing the Sarnia and District Humane Society to begin operation as of January 1.

He says there's no financial savings to the city and they would still be responsible for general maintenance at the site.

If approved, the humane society would take over operation for a five year period, with performance reviews each year.

The City of Sarnia has operated the facility since 1963 and has recently faced concerns of non-compliance issues with required OSPCA guidelines.
