Pair Charged Following Car Fire

Lambton OPP have laid charges after an unoccupied vehicle was found engulfed in flames in a ditch in Brooke-Alvinston Township Sunday November 22.

Police, EMS and local fire crews responded around 9:30am to a single vehicle crash at Nauvoo Rd. at Sydenham Line.

The OPP canine unit was unable to locate anyone in the area at the time.

Police have now arrested the owner of the vehicle, 19-year-old Jacob Austin Vanvalkengoed of South Huron. He's charged with public mischief, failing to remain, and failure to report an accident.

19-year-old Jessica Laura McCann of North Middlesex is charged with obstructing a police officer.

Both are to appear in Sarnia court February 22.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
