Youth Hockey Player Faces Assault Charge

Middlesex OPP have laid a criminal charge against a youth after an altercation during a hockey game this month.

Police say they were contacted after a player allegedly came up behind another player and struck him in the helmet with a hockey stick.

As a result of the investigation, police determined the assault was intentional and unrelated to the play of the game.

A male youth, who can't be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with assault with a weapon.

Police remind everyone to conduct themselves in a proper manner when playing sports.

Further information is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.
