Suspect Sought In Distraction Crime

Sarnia police is seeking the public's help to identify a suspect involved in a distraction crime.

Police say a man entered the business in the 1300-block of Exmouth St. just before 7pm on January 24 and ordered a beverage.

The suspect paid with a $50 bill and engaged the employee in a conversation in an effort to distract them. As a result, the man ended up with a large amount of cash in return.

Police say this is a common tactic used in these types of "quick change" scams.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Sarnia Police Services or Crime Stoppers.
