SIU Clears Lambton OPP Officer

No charges will be laid against a Lambton OPP officer in connection with the death of an intoxicated man last summer in Grand Bend.

The Special Investigations Unit has determined the officer acted responsibly during the incident on July 26, 2015.

While on patrol along Main St. in Grand Bend officers encountered a 52-year-old man who was believed to be intoxicated but coherent.

He was driven home by police and left in the care of his mother, who discovered him without any vital signs around 4:30am and called an ambulance.

The SIU says a post-mortem determined the man died of a drug overdose.

The SIU investigates any police actions that result in injury, death or involve allegations of sexual assault.
