Fat Tuesday At Global Donuts

It's Shrove Tuesday, Pancake Tuesday, or in Sarnia, " Paczk Tuesday": the day preceding Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent.

Owner of Global Donuts and Deli on London Line Gus Pantazis and his six member crew have been working 12 hour shifts, kneading and mixing 3,000 dozen of the jelly-filled pastries.

"This has become such a mania in Sarnia," says Pantazis.

"I have friends from other parts of the country that call me saying they've read an article about this Paczki thing. So in a way, we're proud at Global for doing our little part of putting Sarnia on the map."

He expects to sell 1,500 dozen Tuesday alone. Each Paczki costs $1.75 or you can buy a dozen for $18.00.
