Sulphuric Acid Leak At Polymoore Dr. Business

Emergency responders were called to a sulfuric acid leak Thursday morning at a business in the 400-block of Polymoore Dr.

The Ontario Labour Ministry says it occurred at 451 Polymoore Dr., the address of Advanced Finishing Technologies.

St. Clair Township Fire Chief Walt Anderson says they received the call around 8:50am.

Anderson says the company experienced a leak when a line broke off a 2,000 gal sulfuric acid tank and flooded on the floor.

He says one person was taken to hospital by other staff and treated for a slight chemical burn. No other injuries are reported.

"There's no danger to the public, nothing has gone off scene and we've been monitoring the situation," says Anderson. "We have notified the appropriate ministries and the hazmat team is on scene now and going to go in and isolate the tank."

Its unclear how long clean up might take.
