First Court Appearance In Overpass Crash

The initial court appearances for a Scarborough company and a truck driver from Scarborough, charged in November's Hwy. 402 overpass crash, were in Provincial Offences Court in Sarnia Friday morning.

Automatic Coating Limited and 55-year-old Terrance Hamilton were represented by legal counsel and not in attendance at their initial court appearances.

The matter was put over to April 8 to review disclosure.

Automatic Coating Limited is charged with having an over height vehicle and operating an unsafe commercial vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Hamilton is facing charges of careless driving, over height vehicle and operating an unsafe commercial vehicle.

An eastbound transport truck and its load smashed into the Hwy. 402 Indian Rd. overpass November 23, causing significant damage.

Full repairs won't be complete until May.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
