Drunk Driving Charges Laid Early Monday

Police say a 33-year old Sarnia man is charged with impaired driving after breath samples indicated he was over three times the legal limit.

Sarnia police were called when witnesses spotted a vehicle mount the curb and hit a parked car in the 200 block of Front St. around 1am Monday.

Police say the driver then entered a bar in the area.

The suspect was identified and taken to Sarnia police headquarters.

He was charged and is to appear in court March 8.

Meanwhile, a 23-year-old woman is facing drug and impaired driving charges after Lambton OPP spotted a vehicle speeding in Lambton Shores.

Police say just after midnight Monday morning, a vehicle speeding on Hwy. 21 near Northville Cres., failed to stop at a stop sign in an alleged attempt to elude police.

The driver was approached by police in a private driveway and failed a road side breath test.

Police also say a small amount of marijuana was found in a subsequent search of the vehicle.

The woman is to appear in Sarnia court April 4th.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
