Petrolia Dump To Close This Summer

Waste management is reminding residents that the Petrolia landfill is scheduled to close early this summer.

Director of Landfill Operations Reid Cleland says they will no longer accept special wastes April 1, while small haulers and cash customers will be diverted to the Twin Creeks operation near Watford May 1.

"We're phasing out the waste at the site and moving waste over to Twin Creeks, obviously as the site gets closer to capacity you start running out of space to manage the vehicles at the site," says Cleland. "So we're going to start diverting material out of there in April over to the Twin Creeks landfill and we'll phase out the Lambton County waste June 1."

Then the site on Oil Heritage Rd. will be capped, top-soiled and seeded by this fall.
