Police Respond To Internet Ad, Arrest Man

A 26-year-old Sarnia man is facing charges after police allege he tried to sell stolen tools on the internet.

Sarnia police say they responded to a post on social media Monday advertising tools in their original packaging and at a discounted price.

Officers with the Vice Unit and Criminal Investigation Division met with a man in a parking lot where he was arrested.

Police allege the tools were stolen from the suspect's place of employment. He's facing a charge of possession of stolen property under $5,000.

The public is being reminded to be careful when purchasing items over social media. They say if the deal is too good to be true, then it probably is too good to be true.

It's also best to conduct such transactions in a public place for increased safety.
