Real Estate Sales Continue To Rise

Sarnia-Lambton real estate sales for 2016 are up 20% compared to this time last year.

129 properties worth $25.3-million sold last month, 25% better than February 2015.

Real Estate Board President Jane Baker says they're pleased to see MLS listings up 31%, but are finding buyers still anxiously awaiting new listings.

"My advice to people is get listed, get listed now. We're not seeing any reason not to," she says.

There were a number of sales in the mid-to-upper price range again last month. The highest number of residential sales were 33 in the $150,000 to $200,000 range.

"We didn't have any really big sales for the month of February, nothing over the $650,000 range," she says. "So those numbers are a really accurate description, I feel, of our local market."

Baker says the market is demanding listings in the $200,000 to $300,000 range.

There are currently 636 active listings in the MLS system with 318 of those being single family homes.

The average sale price so far this year is $220,000, compared to about $213,000 last year.
