Refurbished Golden Hawk Monument Vandalized

Sarnia police are seeking the public's help in finding the person or persons responsible for the defacing of the recently refurbished Golden Hawk monument at Germain Park. Police say sometime between March 5 and March 10, 2016 the pedestal of the F-86 Sabre Golden Hawk was spray painted with graffiti. Anyone with information is asked to contact city police or Crime Stoppers. Perched on its pedestal at Germain Park for 40 years, the monument, badly in need of repair, was taken down and refurbished over two years. Volunteers put in 4,800 hours and 36 businesses donated materials and services. It was rededicated May 31, 2015.
