Update: Significant Rain Expected for Sarnia-Lambton

Significant rainfall appears to be the biggest concern for Sarnia-Lambton as a strong Colorado low tracks northeast across the lower great lakes into northern New England by Friday. Environment Canada's special weather statement for Sarnia-Lambton says 20 to 40 mm of rain is expected with most of it falling tonight and tomorrow. Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says there are numerous freezing rain warnings in effect across the region including neighbouring Huron-Perth and London-Middlesex. Several millimetres of ice accumulation are possible. He says there is a lesser risk of some freezing rain in the Sarnia area overnight. "temperatures are going to be close to the freezing mark overnight tonight, so there is still a risk of freezing rain in the Sarnia-Lambton area in the overnight hours and perhaps first thing Thursday morning," says Coulson. "But, the way things are shaping up it looks like the air will be mild enough to keep this a rain event for the extreme southwest." Winter storm warnings have been posted for areas including Barrie-Orillia and Grey-Bruce where snow accumulation of 20 to 30 cm is possible.
