Beginning April 1, Union Gas customers in Sarnia-Lambton will pay just a little bit more. Spokesperson Andrea Stass says the Ontario Energy Board has approved a small rate increase.
"Union Gas is changing the rates for customers in southern Ontario and that includes Sarnia and the area around Sarnia," she says. "That is a $16 increase per year with about 3% on their annual natural gas bill." That works out to be about $1.30 per month. Stass says the increase relates to the commodity cost combined with adjustments to recover or refund the difference between the previous forecast for natural gas market prices. Union Gas adjusts the rates it charges its customers every three months.
