402 Shutdown Planned This Weekend

The eastbound Hwy. 402 will be closed for eight hours overnight this weekend, to allow for installation of new girders on the damaged Indian Rd. overpass.

It will be closed beginning at around 11pm Saturday, April 2 and is scheduled to reopen at 7am Sunday, April 3.

Eastbound traffic coming off the Blue Water Bridge will be detoured at Front St. to Exmouth St.

The westbound lanes of the highway will remain open.

The cost of repairing the overpass damaged by a transport truck's oversized load in late November is estimated at $554,000.

Work is expected to be completed in May.

A Scarborough company, Automatic Coating Limited and Scarborough driver, 55-year-old Terrance Hamilton, face charges under the Highway Traffic Act in connection with the collision.
