Woman Rescued From Burning Petrolia Home Recovering

Lambton OPP say a woman pulled from a burning home on Queen St. in Petrolia April 6, is recovering.

Cathryn Mary Charlton, 65, of Petrolia was rescued by a couple of citizens and transported to hospital with severe smoke inhalation.

Police said Wednesday she has been released from hospital.

Petrolia and North Enniskillen Fire Chief Lawrence Swift said by the time they arrived on scene that morning, the owner had been rescued by two neighbours.

“An ex-volunteer firefighter and a member of the public pulled the lady out from a side entrance," he said. "Fire and EMS arrived on scene and found her there with the two heroic people."

The Ontario Fire Marshal has ruled the fire was accidental but is still trying to determine the exact cause.

Damage is estimated at $120,000.
