Giving The Gift Of Life

Sarnia-Lambton residents are urged to donate blood ahead of the busy summer months.

Canadian Blood Services has three upcoming clinics in Sarnia, and hope to get 900 donors to meet demand.

Regional Director of Donor Relations Michael Betel says it's part of a call for 200,000 donors Canada-wide by July.

He says there are some restrictions this time around.

"If anyone has travelled outside of Canada, the U.S and Europe have a three week deferral period to protect the blood supply against the Zika virus, and that has impacted our blood donations by just about one percent," says Betel.

Clinics are being held May 4 and 10 from 3pm until 8pm at the Dante Club, and again on May 28 from 9am until noon at Temple Baptist Church.

To book an appointment, you can download the GiveBlood app, visit www.blood.ca or call 1-888-2-Donate.
