Local Shell Volunteers Help Ft. McMurray

Eight emergency response team members from the Shell Manufacturing Centre in Corunna helped battle the wildfires in Ft. McMurray, Alberta.

Company spokesman Randy Provencal says it wasn't difficult finding volunteers.

"They put their hands up, and really in a moment's notice they dropped everything they were doing and packed up and flew out to help a community that's in desperate need," says Provencal.

Provencal says they were involved in fighting house fires, perimeter bush fires and even rescuing family pets left behind in the evacuation.

The local group is expected back this week.
