'Sensory Story Hour' Launches This Week

Lambton County Library is launching a new pilot program Thursday, May 12 geared toward young children with autism and other sensory processing disorders.

Children and Teens Services Coordinator Lise Babcock says the "Sensory Story Hour" will offer a different experience for children and their families.

"There are transitional aides available to the children when they're participating in the story hour," says Babcock. "There's going to be some sensory stimulation activities, a tactile mat that has different textures on it, a ball bin where they can put their hands in, different activities like that."

The free pilot program will run every Thursday from 1:30pm until 2:30pm at the Sarnia Public Library, until June 9.

Babcock says parents and caregivers are asked to contact the library to pre-register.
