Thick Smoke Slows Afternoon Hwy. 402 Traffic (Gallery)

Thick black smoke disrupted traffic on the westbound Hwy. 402 early Monday afternoon.

Sarnia Fire and Rescue Services was dispatched to a grass fire on the north side of the highway between Modeland Rd. and Murphy Rd. near 1:30pm.

The right lane of the westbound highway in the area had been closed shortly after to allow for crews to extinguish the fire. OPP also attended the scene.

The highway had been fully reopened with the fire fully extinguished around 2:30pm.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
