Online Campaign Underway To Restore The Fitzgerald Rig

Petrolia Discovery has started an online fundraiser to restore the Fitzgerald Rig.

The 113-year-old machine still pumps oil and is a key feature on the Discovery site.

Petrolia Discovery Foundation chair Dawn Sperling says they're hoping to raise $10,000 over the next six weeks.

"We would like to restore the clutch that was once on the rig and that's made out of brass and steel and it does require some craftsmanship to get that up and running," says Sperling.

Residents are asked to donate online at www.thisplacematters.ca.
