Watford Alvinston Road Race Expects 500 Runners

The 59th annual Watford Alvinston Road Race is set for Monday morning.

About 500 runners are expected for the yearly run from Alvinston to Watford Arena.

Chair Mikayla Verberne says they have a 8 km and 16 km routes, and people of all ages have signed up.

"We get a lot of families, especially the 8 k, and that's why we keep our prices so low, we want families. It starts out as a family thing and it's a fun thing for everyone," she says.

Verbene says they bus everyone from Watford Arena to the two starting lines.

She says they've closed online registration but you can still sign up the morning of the race.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
