VIDEO: Cash Stolen From ATM At SSEC

Sarnia police are investigating the theft of a large quantity of cash from an ATM located inside the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre.

In the early morning hours of May 21, police allege a man cut the phone lines to the building.

He then waited for the key holder to attend and leave the scene before removing a glass panel from a door and entering the building.

Constable John Sottosanti says the man used a grinder to break into the ATM.

"The party then proceeded to a second ATM machine within the building, however, no entry was made into this machine," says Sottosanti.

"The suspect is described as being between 5'3'' and 5'5'', with a balaclava and gloves. He has a very distinctive walk and it's believed he's not from the Sarnia area."

Anyone with information is asked to call Sarnia police or Crime Stoppers.
