Storms Bring High Winds, Hail To Sarnia Lambton

A severe line of thunderstorms rumbled through Sarnia Lambton late Sunday afternoon into the early evening, knocking out power and pelting parts of Wyoming, Petrolia and Forest with hail. About 30 Hydro One customers on London Line east of Oil Heritage Rd. won't have their service restored until about 1pm. About 30 residents in the Courtright area and another 125 or so near Townsend Line and Nauvoo Rd. spent the night in the dark. Power was out temporarily for Bluewater Power customers in the Cathcart Blvd./Michigan Ave. and Lakeshore Rd. area east of Murphy Rd. The mercury hit 29.4 degrees at 5pm Sunday with humidex values in the low to mid-30's for much of the afternoon. A wind gust of 46km/h just past 5pm signalled the arrival of the storm that dumped 20cm or just under an inch of rain at Chris Hadfield airport in Sarnia. The system signaled a slightly cooler and less humid airmass for the region, dealing with its first spell of very warm and humid weather of the season.
