Big Year For Pizzafest

Organizers of Petrolia's Pizzafest says it was their best year yet.

More than 6,300 slices of pizza were sold during the third annual event Saturday.

Petrolia's Director of Community Services Dave Menzies says five local vendors served up more than 500 pizzas.

Menzies says all the money raised stays in the community.

"We sell the pizza for $2 a slice, with 50 cents going towards the Petrolia Community Foundation, which is a fund here in Petrolia for the betterment of the community."

Meznies says about 5000 attended the event before rain forced the cancellation of the free evening concert, with plans for a make up date already in the works.

He says they already have a few ideas for next year's event, which will once again be on the first Saturday in June.
