Grand Bend's New Band Shell To Open

Grand Bend's new, permanent band shell opens in grand fashion this weekend!

Construction of the Rotary Community Stage started in February and was completed last month.

Grand Bend and Area Chamber of Commerce President Glen Baillie says the successful free concert series in 2014 and 2015 inspired the project.

"We put a lot of work into it. Its a great community project. What we have here is an example of the Rotary Club trying to get the entire municipality involved in a fundraising project, and it worked," said Baillie.

"They raised over $300,000, all locally, from individuals and some businesses."

Senior government also pitched in some funding for the venue at the foot of Main Street West, which looks out to Lake Huron across Grand Bend's Blue Flag beach.

Live music and events are planned this Saturday and Sunday from 2pm to 10pm.

A ribbon cutting ceremony is planned at 5pm Saturday.

Full concert details can be found at www.grandbendtourism.com/stage .
