15th Annual Relay For Life

Hundreds of residents are expected to participate in Sarnia's 15th annual Relay For Life Friday.

Canadian Cancer Society community spokesperson Paula McKinlay says it's their biggest fundraiser of the year.

She says 66 teams raised $196,000 last year, so they've set this years goal to raise $200,000.

"It goes towards things like obviously research as well as our transportation program which is the 'Wheels of Hope' program so that nobody is left home during treatment," says McKinlay. "There's also our peer to peer support we provide for families as well so, the dollars raised go to fuel our mission."

The event runs from 6pm until midnight at Clearwater Arena Park.

Opening ceremonies begin at 6pm, immediately followed by the survivor victory lap.
