Teen Charged In Messy Crash

There was quite the mess to cleanup following a crash last night on Exmouth St. near Elizabeth Ave.

Constable John Sottosanti says Sarnia police were called to the area just before 10pm after a driver reported being hit by a speeding pick-up truck.

"A pick-up truck travelling at a high rate of speed in the same direction struck his vehicle causing the pick-up to lose control, mount the curb and strike a hydro pole snapping it in half, says Sottosanti.

"The pick-up truck also struck two city signs that required repair and garbage to be scattered causing a mess before speeding away from the scene."

Constable Sottosanti says while police were on scene conducting their investigation, the suspect vehicle returned.

The driver of the pick-up truck, an 18-year-old man, is charged with careless driving and failing to report damage to property on a roadway.

No injuries were reported in the collision.
