City Police Warn Of 'Smash And Grab' Thefts

Sarnia police are again reporting "smash and grab" thefts from vehicles at Canatara Park.

Constable John Sottosanti says Tuesday alone, three parked vehicles had their windows broken and valuables inside stolen.

He says items taken ranged from coins in the console to purses and passports.

"So what we're asking individuals to do is to remember to hide all valuables, in your trunk or beneath your seat, so they are out of sight," says Sottosanti. "That way it will hopefully decrease the level of enticement that people have to try and steal something from your car."

Constable Sottosanti also advises motorists not to park in isolated areas.

Your vehicle is less likely to be targeted if it's parked in a high traffic area.
