Impressive Turnout For Seniors Cruise

It was a sellout by 9am!

Over 1,500 people made their way down to Sarnia's Front St. dock Monday for the 38th annual Seniors Cruise.

Spokesperson Marnie Thomas said the weather was ideal.

"People come year, after year, after year because they want to see how the waterfront has changed and how the menu has changed. We have different supporters every year, but a lot that come year, after year, that really are the support of this," she said.

Residents were provided with lunch, music, good company and a scenic tour of the St. Clair River.

Annette Pachlarz brought her father in-law Bruno for the day.

"We came from Grand Bend. It's a sunny day and we're looking forward to a cruise. I am just so impressed that they have these special opportunities for seniors and really appreciate every organization that is part of this," she said.

The cruise was a first for Ron McVicar of Sarnia, who invited friends from Macomb, Michigan to join he and his wife for the day.

"It's something to do. Our friends are here, so we can visit and go for a boat ride at the same time," he said.

The yearly tradition was started by long time CHOK Hotline host Peter Henderson.

Thomas says they really need donations to keep the event going.
